MIGRATION FROM PRESTASHOP

Migration from PrestaShop to WooCommerce: products with combinations, customers and URLs according to a plan.

Modules, updates and custom changes can make a PrestaShop store hard to maintain. I move it to WooCommerce together with the products and their combinations, customers, order history and a 301 redirect map. I start by going through the database and modules, because they decide the scope.

I build this to order, around your rules. Describe your project and I will reply with questions and a preliminary quote, usually within one business day.

WHEN IT HELPS

When PrestaShop starts to get in the way

Typical reasons for changing platform.

  • The store is heavily modified

Custom modules and code changes make updates and every further change harder.

  • Product combinations cause trouble

Sizes, colours and other combinations have to become variations, without losing prices and stock.

  • URLs run through identifiers

Old links have numbers in the address, so without a redirect map they disappear along with the old platform.

  • Maintenance takes more than it gives

The time spent on updates and module fixes could go into growing sales.

What a migration from PrestaShop covers

The scope depends on how the database looks and which modules run in your store. I start by reviewing them and running a trial export.

  • 01

    Products with combinations

PrestaShop attributes and combinations as WooCommerce attributes and variations, with prices and stock.

  • 02

    Categories, features, images

The category tree, product features and images, with their order and descriptions.

  • 03

    Customers and orders

Customer accounts and order history as archive orders.

  • 04

    301 redirects

I map PrestaShop addresses that contain identifiers to the new product, category and page addresses.

  • 05

    Features from modules

I recreate the features the modules provided with plugins or custom code where they are needed.

  • 06

    Pages and CMS content

The terms and conditions, delivery and other information pages.

The migration process and redirect map

Run the simulation and see the map of old addresses and the things to check by hand.

Demo

The demo requires JavaScript.

The numbers, addresses and notes are fictional or illustrative. This is a simulation of how it works, with no connection to any store. I set the exact address rules after analysing your store.

This is just an example. I will build it around your case.

You do not need a specification. A few sentences about what should work is enough.

What the rollout looks like

  1. 01

Review of the database and modules

I look at the database, the PrestaShop version and the modules in use, to know what is standard and what is a custom feature.

  2. 02

A trial migration on a copy

I move the data to a separate WooCommerce environment and check the result on a sample of products before the whole catalogue goes.

  3. 03

    Redirects and SEO check

An address map with identifiers, 301 redirects and an automatic check that every old address leads to the right place.

  4. 04

    Switch and observation

We agree the switch window and I sync the last orders, then I watch Search Console for a few weeks.

FAQ

Questions about a migration from PrestaShop

Will you move product combinations?
Yes, as WooCommerce variations. Complex cases, for example many attributes or prices that depend on the combination, I check on a sample before the full migration.
What about my PrestaShop modules?
Modules do not carry over to WooCommerce. I check which features they provided and recreate the ones you need with a plugin or custom code.
Will I keep my Google positions?
I cannot promise that. 301 redirects and moved content reduce the risk of drops, but changing a platform always changes something. That is why I measure the state before the migration and watch Search Console after it.
Will customers keep their passwords?
Usually not, because the passwords are protected differently than in WooCommerce. Customers set them again through a link. Whether it can be done differently, I check after analysing the database.
Will you move a multilingual store or one with several shops?
Such a migration needs a separate analysis: I set up languages, currencies and separate shops in WooCommerce differently than in PrestaShop. Describe the configuration and I will tell you what is possible.
