AI CHATBOT FOR A STORE

AI chatbot for an online store: it answers customers based on your store.

Customers ask about delivery, returns, specifications and order status at any hour. I prepare an AI assistant for a WooCommerce store that answers from product descriptions, the terms and the FAQ, shows the source of the answer and hands the conversation to a person when it is not sure.

I build this to order, around your rules. Describe your project and I will reply with questions and a preliminary quote, usually within one business day.

WHEN IT HELPS

The same questions come back every day

Typical problems with handling questions in a store.

  • Repetitive questions

Delivery, returns, invoices and availability come back in emails and in chat.

  • Questions outside working hours

A customer who does not get an answer right away often buys elsewhere.

  • A hard product choice

A large catalogue and technical specifications make a decision hard without a conversation.

  • Fear of a “making things up” bot

An assistant that invents answers does more harm than having none.

What an AI assistant in a store can do

We set the scope after going through your materials and customer questions. I start with what really comes back most often.

  • 01

    Answers from your materials

The terms, FAQ, product descriptions and manuals as a knowledge base, with the source shown under the answer.

  • 02

    Help choosing a product

Questions about specifications and use lead to products in your catalogue.

  • 03

    Order status

After verifying the order number and email, the assistant can read the status from WooCommerce, if you decide to switch this on.

  • 04

    Limits and safety

The assistant answers within the store's scope, does not reveal other customers' data and does not promise anything outside the terms.

  • 05

    Handoff to a person

When an answer is missing, the conversation goes to the team by email or a form, together with its context.

  • 06

    Review and improvement

The list of unanswered questions shows what is missing in the store's content.

SEE FOR YOURSELF

Ask the assistant of a tea store

Choose a question or write your own. Ask also about something the store does not describe and see how the assistant behaves then.

Demo

The demo requires JavaScript.

This is a mockup: the store, products and answers are fictitious and prepared in advance, with no language model, and the questions are not sent anywhere. In a real implementation the assistant answers from your store's materials.

This is just an example. I will build it around your case.

You do not need a specification. A few sentences about what should work is enough.

What the rollout looks like

  1. 01

    Collecting the sources of knowledge

I collect the terms, the FAQ, product descriptions and real customer questions from emails and chat.

  2. 02

    Rules and limits

We agree what the assistant answers, what it does not do and when it hands the conversation to a person.

  3. 03

Build and tests on customer questions

I build the assistant and check it on real questions, including the hard ones and those that have no answer.

  4. 04

    Launch and fixes

We switch the assistant on and for the first weeks review the conversations, filling gaps in the content.

Why Made IT

  • Over 12 years of experience

Programming and web development, including WordPress and WooCommerce. I also work with Laravel and web applications when a project calls for it.

  • Direct contact with the person doing the work

You talk to the person who designs and builds the solution, with no middlemen and no salesperson.

  • From analysis to ongoing care

Scope, implementation, tests on real data and further development. The code and access stay with you.

FAQ

Questions about a chatbot for a store

Can the assistant be wrong?
Language models can be unreliable, so the assistant answers from the materials you provide, cites its source and hands the conversation to a person when it is not sure. Before launch I test it on your customers' real questions.
Where does the conversation data go?
The content of the questions goes to the provider of the language model, whom we choose together. We agree the rules for personal data in conversations, the retention period and the privacy policy before the rollout.
How is this different from a ready-made chat widget?
Ready-made widgets are sometimes enough. A custom implementation makes sense when the assistant is to use your store's catalogue and orders, work by your rules and plug into your support process.
How much does it cost to run?
Beyond the implementation there are the costs of using the language model, depending on the number of conversations. I estimate them before launch based on the number of questions in your store.
